Description
The La Posada Hotel is steeped in the history of Winslow, the Santa Fe Railroad, Route 66, the Harvey Restaurants with their famous Harvey Girls. It’s many lives and renaissance has seen a Who’s Who list of famous movies stars, politicians and celebrities throughout its history. La Posada (the resting place) opened in 1930 as a major hotel on the Santa Fe Railroad and had a Fred Harvey Restaurant, synonymous with the Santa Fe. It operated until 1957, when it closed to the public and served for a while as offices for the Arizona headquarters of the Santa Fe. It was saved from demolition several times and eventually taken over and restored by Allan Affeldt and his partners. Today, the hotel is one of the finest in Arizona and the Turquoise Room is always on the top five list of Arizona Restaurants.

It is one of our annual treat meals. New ownership, but still a top-quality restaurant and still one of Arizona's best.

Thank you. It has been a joy to watch the evolution of this place over the past many years of our visits. Great on the outside and delicious on the inside at the Turquoise Room. One of Arizona's real gems. Thank you to the Phoenix buyer of this image.
