A special thank you to the buyer in Albuquerque NM, for your purchase of multiple copies of this image. It is a great generally colorful item, but also has a very Christmas look to it. I guess that's why they call it Christmas when you order the red and green chili combo on your entrée. Thanks again and enjoy.

Thank you to the buyer from Santa Fe. This is a great choice for a face mask design.

Artist's Description

Local Red and Green New Mexico Chiles are in season and ready for roasting at the Saturday morning Farmers Market in the Santa Fe Railyard District.

Chile roasting refers to roasting of green chiles, most commonly occurring during harvest season, in autumn, throughout New Mexico. The process can be done at the time of purchase, in an oven (horno), or at home.

The commercial process, done at purchase, usually involves an operator taking the part as chile roaster which involves standing near and turning a cylindrical cage drum over propane fueled flames, ensuring the chile pods are heated on every side, as they shed their skins; this ensures the chile skins blister appropriately, to allow for easier peeling of the chile.

This process is the most popular method, since the smell has become a staple during the early New Mexican autumn, it offers a physical display of the chile, it offers the sound of the chiles crackling, the sight of the blistering and falling...

About Paul LeSage

Paul LeSage

Photography has always been my passion, since I developed my first print, under a dim red light bulb in our basement, at about age ten in the small mining town of Ishpeming, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan's Iron Ore Range. This love was also greatly inspired and nurtured by our dear and close family friend, the Family Doctor that brought me into this world, Dr. J. P. Bertucci. I dedicate this website to him, along with my parents, who always encouraged my photographic endeavors. I know they would be all proud. I have pursued the hobby of Photography with varying highs and lows of intensity all of my formative years and my adult life. For much of my working life, my camera sat on the top shelf of the closet, as life crowded it...
