Thank you to the buyer in Cocoa, Florida for your purchase of this image. It's delicate beauty caught my on a stroll back to the parking lot at Tent Rocks National Monument near Santa Fe NM.

Artist's Description

Apache Plume (Fallugia paradoxa) Rose Family. The abundant white flowers on the openly branched shrub are saucer-shaped and as large as apple blossoms.
While new flowers are appearing, older flowers develop seed clusters with pink feathery tails like miniature war bonnets. The small leaves are divided into several narrow lobes. When covered with seed plumes, in late summer, this shrub is like a six-foot high powder-puff. The straight stems were used for arrow shafts.

The plant is named for Fallugi, a 17th century Italian botanist

About Paul LeSage

Paul LeSage

Photography has always been my passion, since I developed my first print, under a dim red light bulb in our basement, at about age ten in the small mining town of Ishpeming, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan's Iron Ore Range. This love was also greatly inspired and nurtured by our dear and close family friend, the Family Doctor that brought me into this world, Dr. J. P. Bertucci. I dedicate this website to him, along with my parents, who always encouraged my photographic endeavors. I know they would be all proud. I have pursued the hobby of Photography with varying highs and lows of intensity all of my formative years and my adult life. For much of my working life, my camera sat on the top shelf of the closet, as life crowded it...
