Located on the Malecon, a short distance South of the town square, this 2006 sculpture by Jim Demetro is called Vallarta Dancers.
The inspiration for the sculpture is the youthful energy, flowing movement, colorful costumes of the talented Xiulta dancers. This is one of the many sculptures that line the Malecon area of Puerto Vallarta.
On a recent visit to Puerto Vallarta, we had the opportunity to meet the sculptor, Jim Demetro and his wife, Eva, at Demetro Galeria at Lazero Cardenas 169, just off the Malecon. We learned of his many other public sculptures on display in the local area, many of which we were familiar with. We were also able to view his next sculpture, soon to be displayed on the Malecon as a work in progress. Stop in and visit with Jim and Eva, on your next trip to Puerto Vallarta.
Photography has always been my passion, since I developed my first print, under a dim red light bulb in our basement, at about age ten in the small mining town of Ishpeming, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan's Iron Ore Range. This love was also greatly inspired and nurtured by our dear and close family friend, the Family Doctor that brought me into this world, Dr. J. P. Bertucci. I dedicate this website to him, along with my parents, who always encouraged my photographic endeavors. I know they would be all proud. I have pursued the hobby of Photography with varying highs and lows of intensity all of my formative years and my adult life. For much of my working life, my camera sat on the top shelf of the closet, as life crowded it...

Always appreciative of another sale of this image, this time to a buyer in San Juan Capistrano, California. Thank you to the buyer. A special thanks also to the sculptor, Jim Demetro for his encouragement of my photography. When in Puerto Vallarta, please take time to visit his gallery and say hi.
