The first Dairy Queen Store opened in Illinois in 1940, with a spurt in growth after WWII ended. One of the first franchises grew along the heavily traveled Mother Road, Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona.
In 2016, the current franchisee held off an order from the DQ Corporate headquarters to replace the vintage, fifty-year-old neon sign with a current modern DQ design. Photography has always been my passion, since I developed my first print, under a dim red light bulb in our basement, at about age ten in the small mining town of Ishpeming, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan's Iron Ore Range. A special thanks to the buyer from Savannah, GA. This is, as mentioned in prior comments, is a special image for me, since the first paycheck in my life was at a Dairy Queen in Ishpeming Michigan, back when the minimum wage was 35c an hour. Please enjoy your acrylic print.

Thank you to the collector in Burlington, Wisconsin, just a few miles from Milwaukee where we lived for over 50 years. Special image, since my first job was at a Dairy Queen when they still had signs like this. The cone with the curl on top.
