Description
The first Dairy Queen Store opened in Illinois in 1940, with a spurt in growth after WWII ended. One of the first franchises grew along the heavily traveled Mother Road, Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona.
In 2016, the current franchisee held off an order from the DQ Corporate headquarters to replace the vintage, fifty-year-old neon sign with a current modern DQ design. Preservationists and local residents peppered the DQ headquarters with opposition. They eventually relented as long as the sign was safe and properly operating. Another treasure saved.

Thank you to the buyer from Mahtomedi, Minnesota for your purchase of this image. Always special to me, as my first ever job was at our local Dairy Queen.

A special thanks to the buyer from Savannah, GA. This is, as mentioned in prior comments, is a special image for me, since the first paycheck in my life was at a Dairy Queen in Ishpeming Michigan, back when the minimum wage was 35c an hour. Please enjoy your acrylic print.
